Lynne Mercein draws her design inspiration from the natural beauty of the beaches, mountains and countryside around the world.
She began metalsmithing as a young girl in Northern California, where she was born and raised. Her father, who made jewelry as a hobby, introduced her to the art of jewelry making and her curiosity and desire to work with metal and stones grew into adulthood.
Lynne designs and fabricates her jewelry by hand using yellow, rose and white gold, sterling silver, brass, bronze and copper. She uses a wide array of stones, precious gems, seaglass, shells and seeds. Especially popular is her work with geodes, commonly known as "Druses" and her work featuring the gingko leaf motif.
Lynne works from her home studio in Southern Connecticut where she resides with her husband and four children. In addition to original designs, Lynne works on a commission basis designing one-of-a-kind pieces for her clients. She also creates re-imagined pieces using her clients' (and her own) old jewelry, making more updated new pieces by reusing the metal and stones from the old pieces.
